Prayer for Unsaved Loved Ones

Scripture: 1 Samuel 12:23

“As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.”

Heavenly Father, We come before You with hearts full of love, concern, and faith as we lift up our unsaved loved ones to You. You are the Creator of all, and You know each of them intimately. Your Word declares, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5). You see their hearts, their struggles, and their deep need for You, even if they do not yet recognize it.

Lord, we pray that You would soften their hearts and remove the spiritual blindness that keeps them from seeing the truth of the Gospel. Your Word reminds us, “The god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:4). We bind and remove every blinder of pride, doubt, fear, or deception that hinders them from acknowledging You as their Lord and Savior. Draw them to Yourself with Your loving-kindness, for it is written, “The kindness of God leads you to repentance” (Romans 2:4).

Father, we ask for divine appointments and opportunities for them to encounter Your truth. Surround them with godly influences—friends, co-workers, neighbors, or even strangers—who will share Your Word boldly yet lovingly. Let declare that Your Word, which is sharper than any two-edged sword, will pierce their hearts and convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (Hebrews 4:12, John 16:8). May they respond to the call to “seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon” (Isaiah 55:6-7).

Lord Jesus, You came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10), and we ask You to pursue our loved ones with Your relentless love as  we break down every wall of resistance and remove every barrier that separates them from You, in the name of Jesus. Your Word assures us that You leave the ninety-nine to find the one who is lost, and when You find them, there is great rejoicing in heaven (Luke 15:4-7).

Holy Spirit, stir their hearts with a longing for something greater than what this world can offer. Create in them a hunger for truth, purpose, and eternal hope. Replace their hearts of stone with hearts of flesh that are tender and responsive to You, as You promised in Your Word: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).

Father, we also pray for ourselves and the other believers in their lives. Gave us the grace to live as faithful witnesses, reflecting Your love, grace, and truth in all that we say and do. Your Word calls us to “let our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Give us wisdom,  and courage to share the Gospel and patience to continue interceding for their salvation without losing hope.

Lord, we thank You for the assurance that You are not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We hold on to this promise and declare in faith that You are working even now in the lives of our loved ones. We trust in Your timing and Your power to save, for “Salvation belongs to the Lord” (Psalm 3:8).

We surrender our loved ones to You, confident that Your love for them surpasses even our own. Bring them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, that they may experience the joy of salvation and the abundant life You promise (John 10:10). In Jesus’ mighty and matchless name, Amen.

In Closing

Father, we give you thanks, for your word says in 1 John 5:14-15 that We are certain that God will hear our prayers when we ask for what pleases him.  And if we know that God listens when we pray, we are sure that our prayers have already been answered. We receive this assurance today in Jesus’s name Amen.

Note: You can personalize this prayer and call the names of your loved ones.
